Downloading and Exporting Data from the John Deere 2630
Overview
The John Deere GreenStar 3 2630 display records critical field data including as-applied maps, yield data, and coverage information. This data is stored in the displays internal memory and must be exported to a USB drive to be used in desktop software like Apex or the John Deere Operations Center. This guide details the steps to safely transfer your data profiles to a portable drive for reporting and analysis.
What You'll Need
- John Deere GS3 2630 Display
- USB flash drive (4GB or larger recommended, 32GB maximum)
- USB drive formatted as Windows FAT or FAT32 (NTFS is not recognized)
- At least 1GB of free memory on the USB drive
Step-by-Step
Stop Recording and Vehicle
Before starting the transfer, stop the vehicle and turn off all types of recording. This ensures that all active data files are correctly closed and ready for export.
Insert the USB Drive
Insert the formatted USB drive into the port located on the side of the 2630 display. Wait approximately 10 seconds for the display to recognize the device.
Access the Data Transfer Page
Once the drive is recognized, a Data Transfer page will automatically appear on the screen. If it does not appear, ensure the USB icon is visible in the top status bar.
Select Export Data
Select the Export Data option from the list. This will prepare the display to copy its internal data profiles to the connected USB drive.
Choose or Create a Profile Name
Select an existing Profile Name on the USB drive or select New to create a new one. When naming a new profile, avoid using special characters such as slashes, colons, or quotes, as these will cause the export to fail.
Begin the Transfer
Select the Begin Transfer button. Large data sets or multiple seasons of information may take several minutes to process. Do not remove the USB drive or power down the display during this time.
Confirm Completion
Wait for the Data Transfer is Complete message to appear on the display. Once this confirmation is shown, you may safely remove the USB drive from the monitor.
Common Issues & Troubleshooting
Tips & Tricks
If you make changes to machine settings while in auxiliary mode, turn the key off and wait for the displays power light to turn off before restarting the ignition to ensure all data is saved.
Data should be exported and deleted from the display once internal memory usage exceeds 90 percent to maintain peak operating speed.
Exporting data to an existing profile will overwrite setup information but will not delete existing documentation files like yield maps already on the USB.
To view how much memory is currently used on your display, navigate to Menu, GS3, and select the Memory tab.
