Downloading As-Applied Data from the Raven Viper 4+
Overview
The Raven Viper 4+ records precise vehicle location and application data during field operations to create as-applied maps and job reports. This data is essential for customer billing, government record-keeping, and future crop planning. This guide explains how to export these files to a USB drive or the Slingshot cloud while explaining the critical differences between file formats and transfer methods.
What You'll Need
- Raven Viper 4 or Viper 4+ Display
- USB flash drive (maximum 32 GB recommended)
- Active Slingshot account for cloud transfers
- Administrator or User access level
Step-by-Step
Access the File Manager
Expand the Admin or User Panel at the top of the main screen and select the File Manager utility. This is the central hub for all data movements, including exports.
Select Files for Export
Navigate to the File Manager tab. Use the Filter icon to select Jobs to see your completed field operations. Move the desired jobs from the All Files list on the left to the Selected Files list on the right using the single or double-arrow icons.
Choose Export Destination
Select the File Export icon. You will be prompted to choose a destination: select your USB drive for manual transfer or Slingshot for wireless upload if the vehicle is equipped with a Field Hub.
Select Action: Copy vs. Move
Choose Copy if you want to create a duplicate on your USB while leaving the original on the display. Choose Move to transfer the data and automatically delete it from the display memory. Moving files is recommended as regular file maintenance to keep the internal storage from filling up, which ensures optimal display performance.
Configure File Formats
Select your output format based on your needs. Use .jdp (Job Data Package) to keep the Grower, Farm, Field structure for use in other Raven displays or Slingshot. Use .ssa (Slingshot Archive) to bundle multiple jobs into one zipped package for easy web upload. You can also enable Generate Report (.pdf) for a human-readable summary or include shapefiles for advanced GIS analysis software.
Finalize Transfer
Touch the confirm button in the lower-right corner to begin the export. Do not remove the USB drive until the system indicates the process is complete and returns to the File Export tab.

Tips & Tricks
It is a best practice to perform file maintenance weekly to archive data to a PC and clear the monitor memory.
A shapefile export actually creates multiple distinct files such as .shp, .shx, and .dbf for every product channel; ensure you keep these together on your computer.
If you are exporting specifically for the Slingshot website, using the Slingshot Archive (.ssa) format allows you to upload many jobs at once via a single file.
Before deleting files from the monitor, always verify that they have successfully transferred and can be opened on your computer.
