Creating a Job on the Raven Viper 4+
Overview
The Raven Viper 4+ uses a structured workflow to initiate field operations, ensuring all data is accurately recorded under the correct organizational hierarchy. Starting a job involves selecting the field location, naming the specific operation, and loading necessary guidance or scouting features to enable automated control systems like steering and section control.
What You'll Need
- Raven Viper 4 or Viper 4+ Display
- Pre-configured Machine Profile
- Pre-configured Product Configuration
- Established Grower, Farm, and Field structure
Step-by-Step
Access the Job Profile Panel
Locate the Job Profile area toward the bottom of the main home screen. Touch this area to expand the panel and view available job options and previously saved operations.
Initiate Start Job
Select the Start Job button, which is represented by a blue play icon. This begins the process for a new default field operation.
Assign Grower, Farm, and Field
Verify the Grower, Farm, and Field assignments displayed in the upper-left corner. If they are incorrect, touch the Edit button to select the appropriate hierarchy from your internal memory. This ensures data is saved to the correct location.
Name the Job
Touch the Job Name field and use the on-screen keyboard to enter a descriptive name for the task. Descriptive names help identify the operation later for reporting or if you need to resume the job at a later date.
Select a Job Profile (Optional)
If you have recurring operations, touch the Job Profile drop-down to select a pre-configured profile. This can automatically load specific guidance paths and scouting groups to speed up the setup process.
Configure Guidance and Scout Groups
Touch the Guidance drop-down to select a saved AB line or pattern. Similarly, use the Scout drop-down to load a field boundary or specific zone map features associated with the field.
Verify Product Assignment
Review the Tank Assignment or Product Assignment section. Ensure the correct product configuration and target rates are set for each active control channel to be used during the operation.
Start the Field Operation
Touch the green Start button in the lower-right corner. The monitor will transition to the operation run screen, and the system will begin recording coverage and executing control commands based on your GPS position.

Tips & Tricks
Setting up job profiles is recommended for professional operations as it saves field-specific preferences like guidance types and line names for future seasons.
Always use the proper power-down sequence by closing the job first to ensure all collected data and reports are saved correctly to the internal database.
You can also start a job directly from the Street Map view by selecting a boundary shape on the map and touching the Start Job icon that appears on the right.
If you are using agX recommendations, select the specific agX field icon instead of the standard Start Job button to load chemical and prescription information automatically.
