Importing Boundaries and Guidance Lines via ISO XML for the Raven Viper 4+

boundariesguidancedata-transfer

Overview

The Raven Viper 4+ uses the industry-standard ISO XML format to organize and import spatial data. By using a TASKDATA folder structure, you can transfer both field boundaries and AB guidance lines at the same time. This method ensures that the geometry is automatically linked to the correct Grower, Farm, and Field structure on the monitor.

What You'll Need

  • Raven Viper 4 or Viper 4+ Display
  • USB flash drive with 32GB maximum capacity formatted as FAT32
  • Field boundary and guidance line data exported as ISO XML in a TASKDATA folder

Step-by-Step

01

Prepare the USB Drive

On your computer, ensure your field data is exported from your management software in a folder titled TASKDATA. Place this folder directly onto the root directory of your USB drive. It must contain the TASKDATA.xml file to be recognized by the monitor.

02

Access the File Manager

Insert the USB drive into the monitor. Expand the Administrator or User panel at the top of the main screen and select the File Manager utility.

03

Navigate to the USB Tab

Select the USB tab, which is the second tab from the left. Choose your USB drive from the source drop-down menu.

04

Filter for ISO Task Data

Touch the file type filter drop-down and explicitly select ISO TASKDATA. Use the blue next arrow to proceed to the folder selection screen.

05

Transfer Data to internal Memory

Highlight the TASKDATA folder and select the Copy button, which looks like two pieces of paper. Confirm the transfer on the Import Items screen by selecting the green check mark and then select OK once the process finishes.

06

Start a Job and Select Field

Return to the home screen. You can select the boundary shape directly on the map and touch it to highlight it in red, then select Start Job. Alternatively, use the Start Job icon and choose the appropriate Grower, Farm, and Field from the list.

07

Activate the Boundary in Scout

If the boundary is not visible after starting the job, tap the Scout widget. Filter by your Grower, Farm, and Field information, then select the imported boundary from the list to display the field perimeter.

08

Load Guidance Lines

Press and hold the guidance line widget on the run screen. Select the Load tab and filter the list by Grower, Farm, and Field. Select the desired guidance line, which will highlight in green, and touch the green check mark to activate it on the map.

Common Issues & Troubleshooting

Tips & Tricks

💡

Using the ISO XML TASKDATA format is highly recommended because it automatically organizes your field hierarchy without manual assignment.

💡

Always verify that your spatial data was exported using the WGS84 datum to ensure the boundary and lines align perfectly with your GPS position.

💡

You can switch between multiple imported guidance lines in an active job by returning to the Load tab in the guidance widget, but only one can be active at a time.

💡

Perform regular file maintenance in the File Manager to remove old jobs and keep the 30GB internal storage from becoming full.
